Veteran public relations and event management executives, Amy Burstyn Fritz and Helen Burstyn, offer 45 years of multigenerational expertise

April 10, 2017 - Toronto, Canada - Toronto-based communications agency Burstyn Inc. announced their launch today. Co-founders and mother-daughter team Amy Burstyn Fritz and Helen Burstyn, offer over 45 years of collective public relations and event management expertise to corporate clients as well as companies in the media, arts, fashion, lifestyle and hospitality sectors. Burstyn Inc. has set up their office in the historic building at 111 Queen Street East.

Amy Burstyn Fritz brings over a decade of experience in marketing and communications, event management and editorial to the organization, having recently left a partnership at a top boutique public relations and events agency to launch Burstyn Inc. 

“Entrepreneurship is about growing and continuing to reinvent yourself as the market changes,” said Amy Burstyn Fritz. “We saw a great opportunity in this new partnership model that would offer clients a wider perspective on communications. Companies are looking for ways to bridge the gap between generations in their marketing efforts - this new leadership structure allows us to provide a better understanding and greater scope of exposure for our clients.”

Helen brings more than 35 years of communications, public relations and government experience to Burstyn Inc., having served in various senior government roles, and later as a senior partner in a global communications strategy firm with corporate and non-governmental organization (NGO) clients in local, national and international markets. Helen recently wrapped production on Toronto Files with Burstyn & Deeks, a weekly public affairs show she co-hosted on RogersTV. 

“We’re creating a new leadership and service dynamic - one that offers a multigenerational perspective and a focus on results”, said Helen Burstyn. “We have always collaborated, brainstormed ideas, co-chaired and attended events together. We finally decided to make it official and set up a family business dedicated to giving clients the benefit of our combined experience and creative approach to PR and event management.”

ABOUT AMY BURSTYN FRITZ

Amy Burstyn-Fritz is a connector and convener, an ideas person who also delivers practical advice and excellent service to clients. With over a decade of experience in marketing, communications and working as online editor of Canada’s largest fashion publication, Amy provides a 360 approach to brand building, developing unique event plans and introducing clients to the power of fully developed public relations strategies. A champion of Canada’s cultural industries, Amy has served as Co-Chair for the Toronto Public Library Foundation’s Book Lovers’ Ball, the Canadian Stage Visionaries program, the Canadian Opera Company’s Operanation gala and Opera Club Program. She has also volunteered on committees for the World Wildlife Foundation, Canadian Stage, Luminato Festival, The Canadian Art Foundation, The Textile Museum of Canada, and she was a Juror for the Canadian Screen Awards.

ABOUT HELEN BURSTYN

Helen brings more than 35 years of expert communications, public relations and government experience to Burstyn Inc. Helen served in various senior government roles, including Chair of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Senior Advisor on Stakeholder Relations in the Office of the Premier, Special Advisor on Social Enterprise, and Co-Chair of The Partnership Forum.  After leaving public service, Helen was a senior partner in a global communications strategy firm with corporate and NGO clients in local, national and international markets.  She currently serves as Chair of Waterfront Toronto and as a Distinguished Visiting Professor in Ryerson's Faculty of Communications & Design at Ryerson University (FCAD). She is also an active volunteer, chairing the national boards of Evergreen and The Walrus Foundation and a board member of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Luminato, The Toronto Public Library Foundation, the Canadian Opera Company, The Learning Partnership and The Koffler Centre. She served for nine years as a Trustee of CAMH, is a founder and past-president of Gilda's Club Greater Toronto, a founding member of Equal Voice, Past President of the Canadian Club of Toronto, and co-founder of the Pecaut Centre for Social Impact (LEAP).
